Complete CAD Design Solution for the Manufacture of a Specialist Heat Exchanger

Working with Oswald Consultancy Ltd, Design Technologies UK supplied a complete 3D & 2D CAD design solution for the manufacture of a specialist heat exchanger.

The unit is specifically designed to provide cooling required to carry out ARP 1401 fuel icing tests to –44 °C, which have been in the spotlight since the G-YMMM Boeing 777 incident at Heathrow in 2008.

The cutting edge cooling system is designed to meet the cryogenic refrigeration needs to -70 °C and cooling power between 5-50 kW for a world leading aerospace test facility at Eaton Aerospace, was developed by Hezlin Ashraf Ball.

We were approached by Hezlin to convert her early designs and calculations in to an accurate 3D representation, this was used to develop and finalize the design with the end customer and to act as a visualization tool when selecting manufacturers of the system.

On completion of the the 3D design dimensionally toleranced 2D Drawings were produced to manufacture the system.
